Archaeology

The Archaeology Collection dates from de beginning of the Museum of Lisbon in that it is the product of the extensive archaeological interventions carried out by Irisalva Moita at the Roman Theatre and Todos-os-Santos Hospital, among other sites dotted around the city.

The long-term exhibition at the Museum of Lisbon - Pimenta Palace showcases the archaeological wealth of a city built on top of earlier cities and the dynamism inherent to Lisbon’s urban archaeology. The collection has been added to in recent years with discoveries from the excavations at Casa dos Bicos and ongoing work at the Roman Theatre.
