Visits for people with Alzheimer's and their carers

Free participation by appointment: servicoeducativo@museudelisboa.pt

Activity limited to 10 people per group

The Mark The Place tours are the result of work the Museum of Lisbon team has carried out since 2021 in partnership with Alzheimer Portugal, MAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Acesso Cultura, and the Institute of Health Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University to encourage the participation and involvement of people with dementia and their carers in the city's cultural activities.

Based on the Museum's collection and exhibitions, these visits involve observation and group discussion of the works on display and/or the themes they raise, as well as practical activities involving artistic expression. The aim is to provide a moment of dialogue and sharing, to explore the Museum's collections and to address themes such as traditions, histories and habits of life, conquests, places, everyday objects, and others.

Using heritage as a means of communication and interaction, these moments of encounter are intended to stimulate participants intellectually and sensorially, encouraging their creativity, the reactivation of memories, and the construction of individual and collective narratives for the maintenance of identity.
