Tailored Visits – Mark the Place are visits designed for people with dementia and their carers.

Based on the Museum's collection and exhibitions, these visits involve observation and group discussion of the works on display and/or the themes they raise and practical activities involving artistic expression.

Through these visits, which can take place in the Museum's various sections, the aim is to provide a moment of dialogue and sharing, to explore the Museum's collections and to address themes such as traditions, histories and habits of life, conquests, places, everyday objects, and others.

Using heritage as a means of communication and interaction, these moments of encounter are intended to stimulate participants intellectually and sensorially, encouraging their creativity, the reactivation of memories, and the construction of individual and collective narratives for the maintenance of identity.

These visits are the result of the work that the Museum of Lisbon team has been doing since 2021 as part of the Marcar o Lugar – Encontros no Museu project, created in partnership with Alzheimer PortugalMAAT – Museum of Art, Architecture and TechnologyAcesso Cultura and the Institute of Health Sciences of the Portuguese Catholic University. The aim is to encourage the participation and involvement of people with dementia and their carers in the city's cultural activities.
